These engines also fall within the OBD testing group. Examples of alternative fuels include natural gas and propane. Battery-electric and hydrogen zero-emission vehicles are excluded from this program; confirm the fuel type and engine year when booking.
OBD testing only. We do not offer smoke opacity testing or non-OBD visual inspections. Vehicles outside the OBD group may need a different CARB process and another provider. Check the official testing requirements and vehicle coverage and exclusions.
The appointment covers the OBD emissions-data test and submission through CARB’s required device process. Ask for a test record identifying the VIN, date and result.
The owner remains responsible for reporting the vehicle, paying the annual program fee and meeting outstanding requirements. Review the result for the correct VIN in CTC-VIS. A service receipt is not a substitute for that record.
Tell the operator about recent repairs, a replaced or disconnected battery, or cleared fault codes. The vehicle may need additional operation before its diagnostic assessment is ready. Clearing codes immediately before testing can prevent a passing result.
Have the truck parked safely with access to its diagnostic port. The truck must be available for the physical device connection. A VIN sent by email or an ordinary diagnostic screenshot does not replace the emissions test. Review CARB’s test-results and readiness guidance if you have a recent repair or an unresolved result.
